Eliot D. Erlichman, PhD, LMHC, CAP, CEDS, F. IAEDP
Dr. Eliot D. Erlichman is a partner in ERE Associates and is licensed to practice in Florida. He is a graduate of the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. Dr. Erlichman is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS) and a Fellow of the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP). He is additionally an Approved Clinical Supervisor and trainer for professionals seeking the CEDS certification. He has participated in pioneering work that addresses complex personality disorders, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and variations of these threatening problems. Certain treatment approaches and techniques are credited to his professional experience.
Dr. Erlichman also holds the CAP Certification (Certified Addictions Professional) and has served as an examiner for the Certification Board of Addiction Professionals of Florida. His extensive clinical practice brings special expertise to working with individuals, couples, and families who have felt burdened with special challenges, relationship difficulties, or the pain of an eating disorder or addictive illness.
He has trained and supervised mental health professionals in the treatment of complex emotional disorders; and he developed a unique weight management program in Philadelphia, and concurrently wrote a weekly newspaper column on eating disorders. His work also included facilitating numerous community support groups for persons struggling with a wide range of mental illnesses
Dr. Erlichman and his brother, Dr. S. Roy Erlichman, have earned international reputations for their work with many who have come to believe that they cannot be helped to live a life free of illness.
Dr. Erlichman’s practice and experience have included writing, teaching, and training professionals. Both Drs. Eliot and Roy Erlichman received the Spirit Award from the Sierra Tucson Treatment Facility in Arizona, acknowledging their contributions in training professionals. Dr. Erlichman’s biography is recorded in Who’s Who in the East and Men of Achievement.
S. Roy Erlichman, PhD, LMFT, CAP, CEDS, F.IAEDP
Dr. S. Roy Erlichman is a partner in ERE Associates and holds degrees in both psychology and family therapy. He is a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP), a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS), and a Fellow and Approved Supervisor through The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP). Dr. Erlichman has served as president of the board of directors of IAEDP, as a chairperson of the certification committee, and was co-author of the first major revisions of the certification requirements for professionals. Currently he is an active member of the IAEDP board of directors, the strategic planning committee, and awards committee that recognizes deserving professionals in the field.
Dr. Erlichman has worked extensively in treating complex mental health issues, severe personality disorders, depression, trauma, chronic illness, addictions, and other important health care issues. The mind/body relationship is of special importance to him in his work with individuals, couples, and families.
Dr. Erlichman is a graduate of The Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis and completed the certification program in family therapy at the Department of Family Psychiatry at Eastern Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and numerous professional organizations. Dr. Erlichman is a frequent presenter at professional conferences throughout the United States. His particular interest areas are working with highly resistant behaviors, counter-transference issues, and the needs of the practicing therapist. He has written various professional articles and appeared on many television and radio programs. His daily work is dedicated to the practice of psychotherapy and clinical supervision of other professionals.
Gail Starr, LCSW, CDE
Ms. Gail Starr is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Diabetes Educator. She has been in private practice for more than twenty years, with special focus on emotional issues related to diabetes, chronic illness, eating disorders, and depression. In addition, she also specializes in the treatment of women and senior patients.
Ms. Starr held the position of counselor and diabetes educator in the Diabetes Care Unit at South Miami Hospital, South Miami, Florida, integrating her skills as a licensed psychotherapist with her clinical knowledge of diabetes and endocrine disorders. Persons with diabetes often struggle to balance their physical health issues with concerns that may include depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Ms. Starr achieved considerable recognition helping patients navigate the deep emotional waters of chronic illness. These skills and learning are integral components of her current work.
Ms. Starr has presented her treatment methods and concepts at numerous professional conferences, trainings and seminars, both national and regional. Her practice includes not only direct therapy services but also providing educational services to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the management of persons with diabetes and other forms of chronic illness, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
Ms. Starr has been featured on various television and radio programs that focus on chronic illness and diabetes and their relationship to personal and family health.
Among other groups, Ms. Starr is a member of The National Association of Social Workers, The American Association of Diabetes Educators, and The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals.
